Donor Manager Software

For some months now, every time we get a WBT donor statement and import the records into DM, none of them is automatically linked to the previous data in the database even though they all exist previously. I have to manually choose the record to link each donation to and less than half the time does DM even highlight the best option even though often it is a perfect match.

Be sure to update to the latest version of the program. There was a bug that crept in a while back that confused the DM on this, so I changed the logic of how it matches gifts to donor records. Here's an article about that: http://donormanager.com/news/21-557

I did a live update just prior so it must be still a problem...

Well, because of the change of method, you will need to relink many donors one more time.

But then the next time, it should remember the links.

So, try this. Try reposting the gift report you just did. See if it makes you re-link again, or if it recognizes most of them.

When you get to the final step "post" ... just cancel out at that point. You don't need to do the actual repost, but test to see if it remembers your previous matching better.

This continues to be a problem in the following month even AFTER a new link is made to the donor file. It appears that the DM program is not reading the ID number and is actually dropping the last digits in the assigned ID number.

I'll try to specifically determine this but I have five different IS partners who've reported this. All have been advised to update the latest version and are still reporting irregularities.

Hmm. It must be something in your gift importer routine.

I don't believe there have been any changes or recent updates or upgrades in our KMAI program but I'll ask and let you know.

This is just a bug in your ear to say that this continues to be a problem. Each month, every gift is unknown to DM, on some, it highlights the best and correct option for me to choose to make the linkage, on many, it just lists all the records and I have to choose the correct match. On most, the match is exactly perfect and it still doesn't locate the match on its own. Reimporting immediately after does not work, it still has all the gifts as unknown the 2nd time around.

Was running 5.58.1. Have recently installed 5.6. I have not imported using 5.6 and won't for another 10 days.

Also, FYI. Donor Manager 6 (currently in Beta) is getting very close to stable, so I'd sure love to be sure we've resolved this issue for that release.

I actually have done a liveupdate this morning but unfortunately, it wasn't until after I had already posted all the gifts for the month of November. So I'm running the latest but even then, it still doesn't make the match when I reimport the data.

Which version did you have before? Depending on the version, it makes you do the matching one more time, but should remember it again the NEXT time.

Just try reprocessing the same file you just processed. See if it makes all of the matches. But, there is no need to "re-post" the contributions.

But, its a good test to see if the matching is working better.
