If you are curious about what is "coming up" for the Donor Manager program, let me give you an idea of what the future holds.

I am actively working on the Donor Manager version 6 series.   This update should be ready for beta testing in early January 2009 and hopefully the first public release will be near the end of January.

This update will move the foundation of the program from Visual FoxPro 6.0 to VFP 9.0.   It will also include the following new features:

• The program will move away from a fixed screen size to take greater advantage of the higher resolution monitors.
• I'll be switching to standard ".zip" format files for backups and for "pack and go" files, rather than the proprietary "tza" format.
• There will be some updates to the page layouts and screen interface to take advantage of the resizable screens

Some features that will be included in version 6.1+ (but probably won't make it into 6.0) are:

• the ability to handle multiple data sets
• more versatile import options
• personalized bulk e-mail options

Now, the custom report writer "FoxFire" is being dropped from the Donor Manager.  The author of this excellent tool has changed the licensing options and I can no longer offer this tool free of charge to DM users.   I am looking for another option for those wanting a custom reporting option.
