MailChimp Syncing

Post by DaveJohnson »

What is the best way to keep DM contacts in sync with MailChimp Subscribers?

There may be some unsubscribers, bouced emails, othe data that goes into ones MailChimp List each time a campaign is sent. Also there may be some address changes, new partners, or other updates made to DM each month.

What is the best way to keep these syncronized? I am finding I need to duplicate my efforts to do so.

The current version of DM (6.19) will let you do a fresh export to a csv file which you can then import back into MailChimp.

MailChimp will sync things on its end.

But, what I don't have yet is the MailChimp -> DM sync (where DM updates its information based on drops / changes in MailChimp).

That's the tricky part and I just have not figure out the right way to do it yet.

How about using the unique identifier assigned to the record? This could be set as a custom import field in MC. When exporting the MC list that field could be used for matching up the records.

That is definately what I'll be doing.

The catch here is that if someone drops an email address, then manually adds a new one on mail chimp, it will not create a unique mail address id, nor will it create a partner link id.

That's what has me stuck (at this point) in my thinking on this. I'm sure there is a way through this ... I'm just not yet sure what it is!
